Summit Scaffolding Waikato are health and safety-plus
Scaffolding Health and Safety, our goal is to achieve a ZERO accident record, and so, it is Summit’s policy to conduct all operations in such a manner that the health and safety of our workforce, clients, and members of the public are protected at all times.
It’s undoubtedly a complicated mandate for our company to uphold because, in an industry fraught with risk, we need to ensure that the team are 100% cognisant of the Health and Safety in Employment Act Regulations 1995, the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and the Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016.
That’s a fair swag of compliance, but we are supported in our allegiance by SARNZ (Scaffolding, Access and Rigging New Zealand Inc) who make it all doable with their Best Practice Guidelines for Scaffolding in New Zealand 2016.
It pays as a company for us to follow these guidelines to the nth degree. We know that due to the nature of our industry, it’s unrealistic to completely circumnavigate all potentially hazardous situations. However, we work hard to take practical steps to eliminate or isolate these hazards, and where it’s impossible to achieve this outcome, we make big efforts to minimise the effects.
Our practice is to plan and execute all jobs in such a manner that safety remains paramount. We endeavour to have each movement supervised by knowledgeable personnel – those who have the requisite experience in the task to be performed. However, we are fortunate that our H&S-certified team all take responsibility for their own safety and for the safety of others.
We are obliged to follow through with compliance on:
• The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA)
• The Health and Safety in Employment Regulations 1995 (HSE Regulations)
• Health and Safety at Work (General Risk and Workplace Management) Regulations 2016 (GRWM Regulations)
• SARNZ Good Practice Guidelines for Scaffolding in New Zealand 2016.
